Hello, my name is Cristal Santos, and I’m the founder of this wonderful rescue — Feathered Friends of Mobile.
I’ve been volunteering with rescues and shelters since 2012, and as a lifelong animal lover, I wanted to make an even bigger difference. That dream became a reality in 2018 when I founded Feathered Friends of Mobile.
Outside of rescue life, I’m a full-time mom of three — ages 7, 10, and 13 — and I also homeschooled them. My kids are a big part of our rescue missions! While they aren’t hands-on caretakers, they love being involved, learning about each bird’s story — some joyful, some heartbreaking — and witnessing the impact of kindness and compassion firsthand.

Feathered Friends of Mobile is dedicated to rescuing and providing a safe home for exotic birds in need, serving as a vital part of the Alabama Parrot Rescue Community. Our mission is to find loving and permanent homes for most of the birds that come through our doors. While we aim for successful adoptions, we do have permanent residents as well.
Feathered Friends of Mobile was established in 2018 by a dedicated family of bird enthusiasts who aims to make a positive impact in the community. Since then, we have rescued, saved, rehabilitated, and successfully found matching families for hundreds of birds in our care. As a home-based and foster-based rescue, we are committed to finding loving families for most of the birds we help, while others remains part of the Sanctuary.
Our team is made up of wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to provide the best possible care for our birds. They are passionate, knowledgeable, and committed to our mission of helping our feathered kids.
