Adoption Policies

Adoption Process

Step 1:

Fill out the adoption application as sincerely and honestly as possible. We carefully screen all applicants, including checking social media, to ensure a good fit for our birds. Provide us a walk-through video of your home. We then schedule a home visit. Send us pictures and measurements of your cage.

Step 2:

If we believe you may be a good match, I will call you to discuss which bird might be suitable, and then we will set up an in-person meeting at my home.

Step 3:

Multiple visits may be required to ensure our birds feel comfortable with you, to build trust, and to let the bird choose you. We take the time needed for the bird to choose you, not the other way around. There is a legally binding contract that needs to be signed in person to proceed with the parrot adoption.

Step 4:

We personally deliver our birds to their new homes. If you are not comfortable sharing your address or allowing a home visit, please do not apply. It is essential for us to know exactly where our birds will be living—this is non-negotiable, especially for our rescue.

Step 5:

Once everything is a good match, the adoption will be finalized. Please note: the process can take 4–5 weeks. We are not a pet store where you walk in and leave with a bird in 30 minutes. Patience and understanding are required for a successful transition.
